Through a road to SAESM 2012, behind the scenes

SAESM 2012 stood tall to set a benchmark for the future SAESMs. But there lies scenes beyond the visible frames of a week of SAESM, which started a year ago. Between two SAESM there is no void, there are communications, planning and salient activities in the illusive void between the two SAESMs. There were thousand and thousand of emails between SAESM coordinators  and even cross sectioned between faculties, students and many other stake holders. And the emails were not to get just on touch, the contents of email were strategies, planning, SAESM contents, SAESM papers and many more beyond our imagination.
SAESM physical prepration started about fifteen days of final week of SAESM. A team headed by Naveen Adhikari and Khagendra Katwal were incharge for the prepration. Babu Ram Karki who was supposed to be active part was not able to contribute to his fullest due to his family commitments but his contributions were praise worthy under difficult circumstances.
Naveen Adhikari and Co. were even out-stationed for a week for SAESM works. The team worked even overnights involving initiations for sessions on SAESM week. A few to mention were publications, follow up with country coordinators, finalizing materials for SAESM's competitive events and many more. The intensity of work can be best explained with a instance featuring Naveen Adhikari, he was in market for shopping and asked shopkeeper for final price and promised to pay Rs. 100 more, even though bargaining is the feature of South Asian market.
After all those preparation came the final week of South Asia Economics Students' Meet. The SAESM program was operated over a theme going green. Various sessions involving paper presentations, quiz, discussion, exams and many more informal sessions contributed to concept of going green.
All country coordinators, faculties, students and volunteers are the part of successful completion of SAESM 2012 and deserves a big praise. Some more to mention for their contribution were collaborators, media, Golden Gate College, and all others who were involved in any possible way. And a special mention is must for World Bank representitive Joe Qián (钱骋) for his presence and more for his friendly and motivating character.
